Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Solarium Interactive ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use AlertOwl. We take your privacy seriously and only collect what is necessary to provide the Service.

2. Information We Collect

Account information

When you register, we collect your email address and a hashed version of your password. You may optionally provide a display name.

Monitor configuration

We store the URLs, check settings, and any request headers (encrypted at rest) that you configure for your monitors. We do not store the content of responses from monitored URLs beyond what is needed to evaluate a check result.

Usage and check data

We record the results of each monitor check — including HTTP status codes, response times, and error messages — to power uptime history and incident detection. We also keep an audit log of significant account actions (logins, password changes, account deletions).

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers or payment details on our servers. We receive and store a Stripe customer ID and subscription ID to manage your plan.

Communications

When you submit a contact form, we receive the content of your message and your email address so we can respond.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service
  • Send uptime alerts, incident notifications, and weekly summaries that you have opted into
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Respond to support requests and inquiries
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of third-party services to operate AlertOwl:

  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management. Governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery for alerts and notifications.
  • Cloudflare — infrastructure, CDN, serverless compute, and database. Cloudflare may log request metadata as part of normal network operations.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy. We choose providers that meet high standards for data security and privacy.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Raw monitor check results are periodically rolled up into daily summary statistics; raw results older than 90 days may be deleted. If you delete your account, your personal data, monitors, status pages, and check history are permanently deleted.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

AlertOwl uses browser local storage to remember your theme preference (light or dark mode). We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. You can:

  • Update your email and display name in account settings
  • Delete your account and all associated data from account settings
  • Opt out of email notifications in notification settings
  • Request a copy of your data by contacting us

8. Security

We apply industry-standard security practices: passwords are hashed using PBKDF2, monitor request headers are encrypted at rest using AES-256, all traffic is served over HTTPS, and sessions are managed with signed tokens. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

AlertOwl is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. For significant changes, we will notify you via email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
